Rules are meant to be broken
|
|
but before u ever think to break the rules, first and foremost understand the rules
u might get the idea and how by breaking the rules can make ur photo more impact
i've been a loyal reader of Digital Camera Magazine as its cheap and very informative
in their April edition has the article about Rip Up The Rule Book...this enlighten me even more
dun be afraid to experiment...be a rebellion and liberate urself from the rules..go get crazy
Rule no#1 Keep it sharp
yes the most important thing in photograpy...razor sharp image
how to break this rule? Motion Blur is the answer
here's i think the closest sample of montion blur or wateva u want to call it
Rule no#2 Rule of thirds
an ancient formula in painting by placing the subjects and objects in square angles of golden points
how to break this rule? Dead-Center is the answer
get bored of same ol' trick and predictable composition...try out placing ur subject at dead-center
Rule no#3 Keep the subject sharp
how to break this rule? Overall Blur is the answer
focus ur lense somewhere else and pointed it to the subject.
the trick is to make sure its not fuzzy blur and try to keep the details visible.
the sample below is somehow over blurred

added more pics from Bripex 2009
yes i did cropped and edited like there's no tomorrow
what would i need to make it better photos?
-an external flash to darken the background to isolate the subject and to make it less distracted
-telephoto lens (no money to buy right now )
-a chair to stand on to shoot at eye level (no more people's head or their long lense appeared)
got Canon?

Makam Anak Dara / Memorial of a Virgin , Kuala Selangor
|
|
Makam Anak Dara/Memorial of a Virgin lies in front of the fort Utrecht/Bukit Belanda. Based from the local story, there was a pious girl and was forced to marry a man she didn't love by her parents. on the day of her wedding while taking her ablution by the Selangor river, she dissapeared. her parents saw her in their dream and she told her parents not to search for her because she had found a place on the island to live. the next day after the dream, her parents went to the place they saw in the dream and astonishingly found her clothes hanging on a tree on this tiny island but her remains never been found. on the same spot, a shrine/memorial was built for her.

Bukit Belanda@ The Fort Utrecht, Kuala Selangor
|
|
on the way back to Kuala Lumpur after a visit to my sister in laws' hometown in Tanjung Karang. wanted to take a tram up the hill of Bukit Melawati but cancelled it off and instead i made a visit to Bukit Belanda@ The Fort Utrecht. The fort was built by Sultan Ibrahim of Selangor but the Dutch conquered the fort for the Dutch East India Company. During occupation of Japanese Army this hill was used to be their training facilities and probably other untold dark stories. What left now are the ruins of the fort.
